Operations-Transparent Mozenda System update

We are excited to announce an update to Mozenda scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at 11 PM Eastern Time. This update is packed full of changes that will make creating and maintaining Agents easier than ever. We anticipate this update will take two hours, during which time all Mozenda services will be unavailable.

Agents running at the start of the scheduled maintenance will be automatically paused prior to our performing the upgrades. Once the upgrades are complete, the paused Agents will be automatically resumed where they left off.

Please note that this update will not be immediately available for existing customer accounts. We will provide you with the opportunity to opt in to this update at your convenience. Read more about this below.

What’s Included in the Update

  1. Full support for Internet Explorer 10 and 11.
  2. Significant improvements to browser isolation mode.
  3. New actions that dramatically simplify capturing data from tables and lists of information.

Internet Explorer 10 and 11

The Agent Builder uses Microsoft Internet Explorer to display web pages and execute JavaScript. With each new release of Internet Explorer, Microsoft makes significant internal changes to improve its performance and consistency. We respond to this by improving Mozenda to take advantage of these changes and to provide the highest level of compatibility.

Prior to this update, on any customer computer with Internet Explorer 10 or 11 installed, the Agent Builder displayed web pages in what Microsoft calls “quirks mode.” Quirks mode is a compatibility mode that causes websites to serve web pages in a way that is compatible with Internet Explorer 9. After installing this update, the Agent Builder will display web pages in full standards mode, which causes websites to serve web pages for the version of Internet Explorer that is installed on the computer.

The main benefit of this change is to increase the number of websites that are compatible with the Agent Builder and to improve the consistency with which the Agent Builder performs its actions. For most websites, nothing will change. Some websites, however, change their structure depending on the compatibility mode being used, which may impact Agents targeting these websites.

Our testing shows that most Agents will be unaffected by this change. These Agents will continue to operate normally. Agents that are affected may be unable to locate HTML elements in the same locations. The solution for these Agents is to reassign the location where the action is performed to correctly find the HTML elements in their new location.

Although we anticipate the number of Agents affected by this change to be very small, we will provide a way for you to opt-in to this update at your convenience. Because of the new actions we’ve added for simplifying how you capture data, and the numerous other enhancements we’ve made, we encourage you to take advantage of this update as soon as it is released.

Sincerely,

The Mozenda Operations Team
