Publish Data to an RSS Feed

May 17, 2016

Data collected by an agent can be used to publish a structured RSS feed to a permanent URL. The RSS feed will automatically update whenever new data is added to the view used to generate the feed.

    1. Open the agent or collection in the Web Console.

    2. Click the gear icon ⚙.

    3. Click Manage Views.

    4. Click the view that you want to publish as an RSS feed. If the view you want to publish does not exist, you can create a new view.

    5. Click the RSS Feed tab.

    6. Check the box next to Publish this view as an RSS feed.

    7. Use the dropdown below Title to select a field. This will be used as the title for each RSS post. An RSS feed organizes data into “posts,” where each record in the collection will appear as a separate post in the list.

    8. Use the dropdown below Publish date to select a field. This will be used as the publish date for each RSS post.

    9. Use the dropdown below Website URL to select a field. This will be used as the link for each RSS post. The default field used is LocationURL, which is a system field automatically collected by Mozenda that contains the URL of the deepest page visited by the agent during processing.

    10. Choose one or more fields as the Content for each RSS post. The RSS feed displays this data without field headers. When multiple options are selected, the values are separated by commas.

    11. (Optional) Click and drag the fields in the Content window into any order.

    12. Click Apply and Preview this feed. This will open a new tab in your browser to the permanent link of your new RSS feed and display the feed. Some browsers attempt to style the output while others show the raw XML with no styling.

    13. Click Save.
