Add or Remove a Template Field

November 02, 2016

A new template field can be created from scratch or created using an existing agent field. Because some existing fields may have unique names in different agents, you may want to merge like fields before adding them to the agent group template.

This article is divided into three sections:

  1. Create a New Field in the Agent Group Template
  2. Add an Existing Agent Field to the Agent Group Template
  3. Remove a Template Field

Create a New Field in the Agent Group Template

    1. Open the Web Console in a browser and click the Agents tab.

    2. Click an agent group from the list. This brings you to the agent group dashboard.
    3. Click the Fields tab.

    4. Click New template field.

    5. Give the field a name. The field name can contain up to 50 characters. Only letters, numbers, spaces and hyphens are allowed.
    6. (Optional) Give the field a description. The field description can contain up to 100 characters. Only letters, numbers, spaces and hyphens are allowed.
    7. Choose the field format.

    8. (Optional) Enter a default value. The default value will appear in this field instead of a captured value when the agent is unable to capture data for this field from the web page.
    9. Decide whether or not the new field should be confidential, and check the box if applicable. Values in fields marked confidential will only be visible to users with confidential permissions. All other users will see stars instead of field values.
    10. Decide whether or not to watch the new field for changes, and check the box if applicable. This setting only applies to agents that track changes. Records will only be marked as changed if data in the new field (and any other fields with these settings) changes from one job to another.
    11. Decide whether or not to require the new field to be captured by agents in the agent group, and check the box if applicable. When a new agent is built using the agent group template, required fields are listed in the Agent Builder.
    12. Click Save.
